Tree and Plant Appraisal

Formal appraisal using American Society of Arboriculture (ASCA) standards

Tree and plant appraisals are completed using a standardized worksheet and format established by ASCA. Appraisals consider the species, site, condition of the tree or plant prior to damage or loss, benefits provided, cost of replacement, cost to care for and maintain the trees or plants, and other factors.  I maintain a Tree and Plant Appraisal Qualification (TPAQ) through ASCA.

Examples of situations when a Tree and Plant Appraisal is needed:

  • Accidental or unintentional tree loss, such as a contractor removing the wrong tree, a vehicle collision displacing a tree, trees and shrubs damaged beyond repair in construction activities, etc.

  • Tree damage by an outside entity, such as from improper pruning, construction activities, etc.

  • Eminent domain and easement situations

  • Chemical trespass or pesticide drift
